TALMONT SUR GIRONDE
A VILLAGE FACING THE OCEAN
15 km south from Royan, on a spur dominating the estuary of the Gironde, Talmont has managed to keep its original citadel, built by Edouard Ier d’Aquitaine in 1284. The beautiful Sainte-Radegonde church, looking over the village, is a true symbol for Poitou-Charentes, with its unharmed ramparts. In the village, hidden away behind the hollyhocks, you’ll find lovely houses with white front and blue shutters.
